VENUE:
Sports USA with 10 wood floor courts, high ceilings, modern
locker rooms with showers, plentiful free parking, minutes from downtown
Spokane by freeway. Click here to see the tournament facility layout.
EVENTS:
Men's and Women's Singles and Doubles, Mixed Doubles. The formats will
be Open, Junior-Senior, Senior 1&2, Master 1&2, Grandmaster 1&2.
Consolation draws will be held in each event not
run as a round robin at the tournament committee's discretion. Each event
must have a minimum of four entries for the event to take place. Where
there are not enough entries, age groups may be combined. Junior-Senior
events are for men and women ages 35-39; Senior events, etc. increase
at 5-year intervals. Matches will be numbered, and starting times and
forfeit rules will be closely monitored. Players will be responsible
for knowing their match times. A ten-minute default rule will be enforced!
PRIZES:
"Classic" Division purse of $6,000 to be divided per USAB standards down
to Semi-Final rounds. Any additional sponsorship funds received will
be distributed between the finalists in each event. Merchandise prizes
will be awarded to all other winners, runners-up, and consolation winners.
All participants will receive a T-shirt with the option to buy an additional
Polo shirt for $12. Please indicate size on entry form. Drawings will
be held for doorprizes.
ELIGIBILITY:
Lilac events are open to all badminton players. All Classic events require
USAB membership. Tournament-only or regular memberships may be purchased
by going to www.usabadminton.org or at the tournament desk.
REGISTRATION
and FEES:
Classic or Lilac entry fee is $40 per person for the first event and
$10 for each additional event. A maximum of 4 events are allowed. Players may attend the Saturday
dinner for $16 ($8 per child 8 year old and younger). Lockers will be
available for rent at Sports USA for $10 for the duration of the tournament.
Any player entering the Classic Events must also be USAB members. USAB
tournament-only memberships may be purchased for $25; full memberships
may be purchased for $30. Note: While USAB memberships are not required
for the Lilac events, it is highly recommended because a percentage of
all membership fees are returned directly to our region for the promotion
of Badminton.

Mail entry form with fees to: "Lilac City Classic" c/o Eric Lee,
4215 E. 25th Ave., Spokane, WA 99223. Registrations may be completed
online but payment must still be received by entry deadline to avoid
late registration fee. Make check payable to Washington State
Badminton Association (WSBA). To purchase USAB membership, a
separate check, made payable to USAB, is required. For more information,

Entries must be postmarked no later than September 24, 2004, and payment
received no later than September 30, 2004.
Credit card registration entries may also be completed online. A transaction
fee of $3.00 will be applied for all credit card charges. Please allow
3-5 days for processing and handling thru PayPal's payment gateway.
SCORING & SHUTTLES:
Current IBF scoring will be used: Women's Singles best of 3 games to
11 format and all other events will use best of 3 games to 15 format.
Yonex AS-50 shuttlecocks have been
designated as the official shuttle for the Classic Open category ONLY.
Victor Blue shuttles are the official shuttles for all other events.

The official tournament hotel is
Mirabeau Park Hotel and Convention
Center, N. 1100 Sullivan Rd. in the Spokane Valley. The rate for
tournament participants is $65 ($72 after taxes) per night for up to
four (4) people per room and includes breakfast (see attached
flyer in the 8-page PDF information packet above or

We will give you a shuttle pickup time when your flight infomation is

SATURDAY EVENING SOCIAL:
Join us for dinner Saturday night after tournament play at the Mirabeau
Park Hotel. The cost is $16 per person and $8 per child 8-years old
and younger. Please pre-register for dinner, as seats are limited.
TOURNAMENT POLICY:
Events with low entries may be canceled, combined with other age groups
or scheduled as round robin events as determined by the tournament committee.
If you entered an event that has been canceled, you will receive a refund of entry fees for the cancelled event, and the entrants will be notified when possible.
Entrants may withdraw from the tournament and request a refund of fees
if withdrawal is prior to October 1, 2004.
On-court warm-up time is limited to 5 minutes when an umpire has not
been appointed. If an umpire is appointed, he/she will determine the
warm-up time. A warm-up court will be provided based on "next up" basis.
Clothing: Competitors are advised that clothing and advertising thereon
must conform to IBF and USAB regulations. Doubles pairs are encouraged
to wear matching collared shirts and shorts. Collared shirts are required
for the "Open" finals only.
Each doubles team member must send in a separate entry, and entries
will not be placed in the draw without the entry fee.
