Welcome to the Spokane Badminton Club

Spokane's 10th Annual Lilac City Wrap Up

The Committee for the 10th Annual Lilac City Badminton Tournament would like to thank all the players and volunteers for making our 10th annual celebration such a fun and successful event. Additionally, the first annual Spokane Pickleball tournament was held in the same facility at the same time to completely fill the gym and to bring an added dimension of character to the event.

Players from Castlegar, Cranbrook, Creston, Invermere, Kelowna, Moscow, Nelson, Pullman, Seattle and Spokane participated this year. Based on the new format introduced last year, there were a great number of additional matches played and special thanks go out to the Spokane Valley HUB for making 9 Badminton courts available to us for this years event to get all these additional matches in. Many people were surprised with 5 matches in most events. This taxed the endurance of most players, but happily there were no permanent injuries.

The Winners for this year's Lilac Tournament are as follows:

Open MS - Nattakit Neat Thirawongpaisal (Seattle, WA)
Open WS - Brooke Lowry    (Moscow, ID)
Open MD - Nattakit Neat Thirawongpaisal & Tao Yuan (Seattle, WA)
Open WD - Wendy Podovelnikoff & Lori Parr (Castlegar, BC)
Open MXD - Steve Warwick & Ezreena Scott (Kelowna, BC)
35 MS - Rob Sequin (Seattle, WA)
35 MD - Duanning Zhou & Ted Horobiowski    (Spokane, WA)
35 WD - Lorraine Pepper & Petra Ware (Cranbrook, BC)
35 MXD - Angus Glass & Ada Bul (Nelson, BC)
50 MS - Glen Dobie (Cranbrook, BC)
50 MD - Andrew Swanson & Ted Horobiowski  (Spokane, WA)
50 MXD - Glen Dobie & Lorraine Pepper (Cranbrook, BC)

We look forward to next year's event and hope that even more will join us for the challenge, fun and frivolity.
