In recognition of the
importance of the region’s role in its (LTADP) Long
Term Athlete Development Plan, USA BADMINTON
has officially appointed Wendy Carter as Regional
Head Coach (RHC) for Region 4 (AK, CO, ID, OR, WA,
WY, MT).
Wendy was nominated by
Regional Coaching Director, Eric Lee in consultation
with USA Badminton Region 4 Director Alan Mills. Wendy
comes to us with an incredible history of both domestic
and international experience. Her list of
accomplishments include (but not limited to) all of the
following:
1) B Ed. from the
University of Alberta.
2) Level 4 Canadian Coaching Certification.
3) Canadian International Player for 8 years.
4) Was ranked #3 in the world in singles in 1978.
5) Three-time winner of the Canadian Open.
6) Winner of the US Open in singles and mixed.
7) Manitoba Provincial Coach for 10 years.
8) Former assistant coach to the Canadian National Team
at International events.
Wendy Carter is currently a US citizen and resides in
the Gig Harbor, WA area. After a short hiatus from the
sport of Badminton, Wendy returns to the sport with a
great sense of enthusiasm for the growth of the
sport. Wendy's primary role will consist of running
camps, clinics and presentations for our regional
squads. With her technical knowledge of the sport and
her pleasant personality we are very excited to have
Wendy on our team and look forward to a very exciting
time of growth for the sport of Badminton in our region.
Wendy will work closely
with the Regional Director (Alan Mills) and Regional
Coaching Director (Eric Lee) who will be her links with
the USAB Board and also the USAB Coaching Consultant to
oversee Regional Athlete and Coach Development Programs.
Together the regional coaching development team will
identify base talent, motivate and encourage talent and
participate in introductory coach education workshops
and clinics.
