Eric Lee Appointed Region 4 Coaching Director

In recognition of the importance of the region’s role in its (LTADP) Long Term Athlete Development Plan, USA BADMINTON has appointed Eric Lee as Regional Coaching Director (RCD).

In order to have a constant supply of quality athletes at the elite level in the long run, it is vital that much attention is given to grassroots athletes. The regions are home to future Olympians. The quantity and quality of its athletes depends very much on a systematic and productive athlete development system, which is reflected by quality of coaches.

Eric will be the key person in the Athlete and Coach Development programs in Region 4 and was selected based on his drive to succeed, organizational and good people skills as well as his coaching ability. In fact, Eric was the USOC 2003 Volunteer Coach of the year

He will work closely with the Regional Director who will be the link with the USAB Board and also the USAB Coaching Consultant to oversee Regional Athlete and Coach Development Programs.

Region 4 Director Alan Mills recommended Eric for the position and looks forward to working closely with him.

Eric will wear several hats to help the region.  The region will identify base talent, motivate and encourage talent, organize introductory coach education workshops and clinics, provide opportunities for the general public and teachers and promote badminton as a healthy sport for various quarters of the community.

One of the most important tasks for Eric is to work closely with the USAB Coaching Consultant, Mohan especially in the area of coach education. Like other RCDs, Eric will be the extension of the USAB Coach Education Department. He will lead coach education in Region 4. To achieve this, Eric will identify passionate individuals who will be able to share their time and expertise to develop badminton in Region 4.
