Eric Lee
Appointed Region 4 Coaching Director
In
recognition of the importance of the region’s role in its (LTADP)
Long Term Athlete Development Plan, USA BADMINTON has appointed
Eric Lee as Regional Coaching Director (RCD).
In
order to have a constant supply of quality athletes at the elite
level in the long run, it is vital that much attention is given
to grassroots athletes. The regions are home to future
Olympians. The quantity and quality of its athletes depends very
much on a systematic and productive athlete development system,
which is reflected by quality of coaches.
Eric will be the key person in the Athlete and Coach Development
programs in Region 4 and was selected based on his drive to
succeed, organizational and good people skills as well as his
coaching ability. In fact, Eric was the USOC 2003 Volunteer
Coach of the year
He
will work closely with the Regional Director who will be the
link with the USAB Board and also the USAB Coaching Consultant
to oversee Regional Athlete and Coach Development Programs.
Region 4 Director Alan Mills recommended Eric for the position
and looks forward to working closely with him.
Eric will wear several hats to help the region. The region will
identify base talent, motivate and encourage talent, organize
introductory coach education workshops and clinics, provide
opportunities for the general public and teachers and promote
badminton as a healthy sport for various quarters of the
community.
One of the most important tasks for Eric is to work closely with
the USAB Coaching Consultant, Mohan especially in the area of
coach education. Like other RCDs, Eric will be the extension of
the USAB Coach Education Department. He will lead coach
education in Region 4. To achieve this, Eric will identify
passionate individuals who will be able to share their time and
expertise to develop badminton in Region 4.
